There are a variety of risks in markets where products and services are converted into consumption. Managing the relevant risks and minimizing the negative consequences and impacts is one of the important issues for both developed and developing countries. In this regard, insurance practices have been developed in which the lives, property and responsibilities of real or legal persons are handled on separate principles. By its function, the insurance sector protects individuals against risks on the one hand, and on the other hand, it leads to an increase in total investments by investing the funds it collects in financial markets. With this function, it undertakes an important task in achieving sectoral or national growth and development. The insurance sector, which started to develop in our country after the 1990s, has not yet reached the desired size. Although there are various reasons for this, one of the most important reasons is the insufficient number of personnel and qualified personnel trained and trained in the field of insurance and the inability of the institutions providing education and training in the field of insurance to reach a sufficient number.
In order to eliminate this gap in the sector, our School, which was established in 1996 and is now known as the Department of Insurance within the Faculty of Financial Sciences, brought its first graduates to the sector in 2001. Insurance department, which is the first academic unit to provide 4-year undergraduate education in the field of insurance; has undertaken the mission of providing trained and qualified workforce to the sector. Our department vision, which is formed in line with the general vision of our faculty, is by adapting to innovations; To be a department that is based on continuous learning and original research and aims to increase our country's literacy in insurance.
