Our faculty is the first higher education institution in Turkey to provide 4-year undergraduate education in the field of banking and finance. Our department aims to train experts and senior managers who are knowledgeable about the functioning and legislation of the banking sector and international financial markets.

 

In our department, in the first two years of the 4-year undergraduate education, students are given intensive economics, statistics, finance, management, law and mathematics courses, while in the last two years, Econometrics, Machine Learning Methods in Banking, Monetary Policy/Theory, Portfolio Management, Banking Law, Credit Management in Banking, Derivatives are taught. Courses are offered on areas of expertise needed by the banking sector, such as Markets Analysis, International Banking, Financial Management in Banks, Fundamental/Technical Analysis, and Bank Accounting. Lessons and course contents are designed to enable students to acquire sufficient professional background and management skills, and at the same time to combine innovative learning techniques with practice and theory. For this reason, our students can easily adapt to working life thanks to the practical lessons given by our academicians based on theoretical and current examples and by our expert lecturers from the sector.

 

Graduates of the Banking Department of the Faculty of Financial Sciences work as senior and middle level managers in important banking institutions such as the CBRT, BRSA, SDIF, as well as Turkey's leading public and private sector banks. Our graduates, who want to improve themselves in their working lives and contribute to the institutions they work for by increasing their knowledge and academic experience, can also find the opportunity to improve themselves academically by completing a master's degree and/or doctorate with or without thesis at the Banking and Insurance Institute after a four-year undergraduate education. Thus, in addition to working in national and international financial markets and the real sector, our graduates also take their place in higher education institutions as academics of the future.
